Nightlife in Mauritius

Mauritius is a relatively calm country in the Indian Ocean. The country is an island with beautiful beaches, tropical reefs and lots of sunshine. As such, most people come for activities they can participate in during the day. However, although there is no very active nightlife in Mauritius, there are still a few things to do once the sun goes down. Here is a little more about the places you can explore after dark.

Casinos

In recent years, Mauritius has seen an increasing number of casinos all around the island. These include private casinos in the city centers as well as casinos in the big luxury hotels. All casinos offer both table games and a selection of slot machines. When you visit Mauritius casinos, be sure to wear casual chic clothes and when visiting the casino of a hotel, it is better to dress formally. The nightlife of Grand Baie has evolved considerably in recent years. From a sleepy city of 1 to 2 clubs, today one can find about 10 nightclubs and many more active pubs. Most of the action occurs on the weekends when locals and tourists fill clubs and bars, and party until the wee hours of the morning. That is why it is recommended to plan your schedule accordingly, making sure to save enough energy for long nights of clubbing and drinking during the weekends! It is very easy to find clubs in Grand Bay, they can all be on the main road in the center of Grand Baie. So, all you have to do is start walking along Royal Road until you see a club, then continue to the next, and so on … Flic en Flac is a very lively village where the nightlife is also present almost every day. Events are usually scheduled on the beach and most nights, evenings are well organized. Some of the best nightclubs in Mauritius are Les Enfants Terribles, Shotz, the Godfather, Buddha Bar and OMG.

Weekends are usually full of activities. Each club or pub organizes something special and you will surely find something that matches your personality. Just walk around Grand Baie or Flic en Flac, and sneak into all the clubs until you find the one that suits you best.
